Kate + Matt = Fantastic Organic Farm Wedding

We are huge fans of Krystal Mann of Mint and Sage Photographic Artists. She completely captures the essence of a bride and groom on their wedding day and it seems that her outdoor images are infused with the very vibrancy of nature.  So naturally we were thrilled when Kate Lainhart and Matt Schefft selected Krystal to shoot their September 13 Cedarwood organic farm wedding.

Kate and Matt worked at creating a wedding that would be “green” and have the smallest impact on the environment, using mostly recycled and eco-friendly products. This is one eye-popping wedding brimming with fantastic scenery and unique details, so settle in and enjoy our first post!

During college, Kate worked at Delivn Farms,  an organic farm in College Grove, Tennessee.  Her respect for natural, organic foods and support of local agriculture formed a foundation for planning an organic farm wedding. We knew when we met Kate and Matt that we would LOVE helping them design their wedding, and we always thrive on opportunities to create unique details and environments that perfectly express a couple’s personality.

When Kate and Matt requested that all the flowers used in their wedding be seasonal and locally grown, we knew planning was paramount in having the supply and variety of flowers needed. Cedarwood’s master designer Karen Wright, equipped with extensive relationships with local suppliers to the floral trade, placed advance orders with area growers, including 200 Annabelle Hydrangea blossoms!

Flowers were limited to shades of green and ivory and designs included fruits, vegetables, plant materials, herbs and succulents for natural styled arrangements that were stunning with an eco-chic sensibility. We love the results!

Kate and Matt asked us to provide a “wishes tree” for guests to post notes and we let nature guide us to a bare Cedar nearby. Re-purposed, the Cedar was perfectly formed for the job and perfect for a Cedarwood farm wedding! We also love Kate and Matt’s custom designed wedding stationery featuring organic papers and ink. Invitation response cards were printed on seed paper so Kate and Matt could plant their first garden in honor of wedding guests. Printed pieces featured a Dandelion motif that was used throughout wedding elements, including the adorable cards below.
