Carrie+Brandon = Summer SubLIME

Photos by Evan Baines Photography

We love photographers who tell a story.  Especially ones who are good at telling a story. Evan Baines, for instance.  We had the distinct pleasure of having Evan shoot the July 31 summer Cedarwood wedding of Carrie Place and Brandon Cowan.  A summertime heat wave made a bead on every brow, but the temps cooled down a bit  for the 6:30 Pm blue sky garden ceremony (….for everyone except Brandon! Love the shot of him wiping his forehead at the altar, Lol….) A post-dinner, random thundershower (where did that come from on a 10% rain chance forecast?) ushered in a pleasant evening of dancing for this New York crowd. And let me tell you, they were a party crowd!  We loved having them!

Here’s the visual story with a little commentary by Evan Baines, followed by some photos from Carrie and Brandon’s engagement session with Evan, plus a few bonus details shots by Cedarwood!

Evan says the above shot by Daniel Shaw reminds him of an Irving Penn still life.

Evan says, “Brandon is a former military guy (like me), and used to fly around in those crazy Osprey aircraft. An Osprey is like a cross between a helicopter and a fixed-wing plane… or as I see it like a helicopter with even more things that can go wrong. I never liked helicopters on my best days: they were the only aircraft I was ever happy to jump out of. Brandon has much respect from me.

One of my favorite parts of this set is the series of head shots of the guys. We got one quick group photo out on the truck, and I made the executive decision that it was sweltering and we needed AC fast. Since we went inside, I decided to focus on a strong individual head shot of each groomsman to compliment the group shot we already had. The guys were total cut-ups, and things really got goofy when I accused one of them of giving me a “puppy dog” look. In response, he only intensified his efforts at giving me a puppy-dog look, and that set the tone for the rest of the photos. Lots of “blue steel” looks and laughter ensued, and I think these shots reflect the guys’ personalities far better than the more subdued versions I was sure to catch for each one.”

We love the freshness of these next shots from Carrie and Brandon’s engagement session with Evan Baines.  And Brandon, has anyone told you how much you look like Ewan McGregor?

Below:  A couple more ‘day after’ detail shots from Cedarwood staffer Aspen Cook. Check out the cute lime tree centerpieces!

And finally, below: A few more snapshots from my little old ‘point and shoot’ —  certainly not Evan Baines Photography quality, but we thought you’d like seeing the welcome refreshment table and table assignment cards!  SubLIME!

Congrats Carrie and Brandon! Thanks for letting Cedarwood host your destination wedding!  And for the yummy New York cookies!  And thanks for bringing Evan Baines Photography to Cedarwood!
