An Officer and His Lady : Heather+Jon

We’ve been so excited to feature Heather Cornell and Jon Chunn’s July 4 wedding that I just couldn’t wait to get our photo CD from Andi, Inc. Photography and decided just to use these images from Andi’s own blog post. This couple, their families and especially their wedding is just so romantically inspiring! Here’s the skinny: Bride’s family is career officer (Army) living in Hawaii. Groom: Naval Academy Grad and Helicopter Pilot from North Carolina. Bride: Teacher and former ballet dancer living in Washington state who just happened to find Cedarwood online and reserved her wedding date before she even saw the property! This was a destination wedding with mostly long-distance planning.

We simply love the synergy of this wedding. Heather is a Cinderella-stunning bride who wanted a classically beautiful wedding without being overly pretentious. Her vision? A soft, romantic and feminine atmosphere throughout with lovely lighting, fun dancing and a great party. Her family and the groom’s military heritage needed to be honored, and a July 4 date…clearly patriotic elements had to be incorporated!

Jon’s groomsmen represented all branches of the military. In uniform for the ceremony, the pagentry was powerful. Then just after the ceremony, when guests were gathered outside for cocktails, a miltary jet flyover (bound for downtown no doubt) just happened to bank for formation right over Cedarwood! It was a blow your hair back fabulous moment!

And the life of an officer and his lady? Here’s the latest from our newlyweds:

“Hello from Hawaii! We have finally made it to the island and have started the process of settling in. Since the wedding we have gone on our honeymoon, packed out my home in Seattle, moved my things into Jon’s home in NC, packed out mine and Jon’s things out of his home in NC, took two weeks to drive accross the countruy and bid our farewells to North America, spent ten days at my parents on Maui…and landed on Oahu three weeks ago! Whew! We are looking for a home now, and hope to be completely settled in the next few weeks.

I wanted to personally thank you and the Cedarwood team for going above and beyond to create the wedding of my dreams. I get emotional just thinking about it! The guests simply RAVED about the design, flowers to tablescapes…AND THAT CAKE! Your team made planning a long distance wedding considerably easier than I had imagined, from our plan-a-thon meeting to the long distance phone calls, you were so incredibly generous with your time. Our families are incredibly thankful.

Jonathan and I are excited about the future as we begin our first home, he will begin flying again shortly and I am looking forward to teaching in such a diverse atmosphere. Thank you again for creating such a magical day for us, we are beyond grateful. - Warmly, Heather and Jonathan Chunn”
