Jenni and Bill’s wedding celebration is infused with rich DIY details inspired by heritage and tradition. We don’t think we’ve seen a more glorious late October day for their vibrant rustic-luxe farm wedding.

Besides the Tartan plaid and Jenni’s family heirloom quilts, we adored tributes to Texas and Kentucky (bride and groom’s home states) woven through the wedding, like his and her state-inspired signature drinks and embroidered pillows representing their home states plus Tennessee where they were married! Adorable post card seating cards directed guests to matching tables named for locations with special meaning, and unique touches at every turn. Details in a word: AMAZING. The day in a word: JOYOUS.  You’ll see it in every photo by Chris and Adrienne Scott. Jenni and Bill’s October 29 wedding is one of the truly unique and personally styled celebrations of the fall. Gorgeous rustic elements mixed with a classy-creative color palette of navy, tan, champagne and natural hues featuring vibrant fall flowers and the Dunbar Clan Tartan, commemorating Bill’s Scottish heritage, define their upscale fall farm celebration at Cedarwood. We were excited to have Chris and Adrienne Scott shoot their first Cedarwood wedding, and are thrilled their photos of Jenni and Bill’s wedding were featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs!

We must give Jenni a huge shout out for her amazing DIY projects involving the Dunbar Tartan! She made fabric flowers for the cake, sash adornment for her reception dress, ring bearer’s pillow, fabric covered monogram initials for the upper house balcony, bride and groom chair back decorations, and fun throw pillows for the reception! We were so excited by the DIY plans discussed during our planning session with Jenni and Bill, and by golly, she came through with every single one! Nothing makes a wedding more special and memorable than personal, one-of-a-kind details!

Among the ways couples can personalize their wedding style, perhaps the most memorable single element is the ‘guest book.’ Acknowledging attendance by signing their names is the first activity of wedding guests. Traditional guests books have given way to more creative options, including signing photos, books, original art, pottery, and objects of art. Wishes cards are a favorite alternative since they allow couples to extend sentiments from loved ones by reading them on their honeymoon or beyond. Trendy fingerprint trees are popular, as are opportunities to come up with totally unique guest book alternatives to represent your love and wedding day style.  Here are a few of our design team’s favorites from creative Cedarwood couples. Oh my goodness, how we adore our bride Heidi’s Maggie Sottero “Rhianna Royale“ wedding dress in the delicate color called light gold.  No one can illuminate a gorgeous bride and her gown quite like Ace Photography. Seriously, there are so many stunning photos of this bride and her groom Jason at their September 23 Cedarwood wedding, it took three selection sessions just to narrow down our favorites for this post.   Autumn is a glorious time for an outdoor wedding, with warm weather and a touch of fall peeking through the end of summer.  Heidi and Jason balanced their romantic pastel-hued wedding with rustic moss, wood and burlap as well as autumn-colored accents including Jason’s southern-chic paisley print bow tie!

Vintage jewelry, bouquet rosary, family heritage photo table, heirloom quilts and embroidered monogrammed jars of home made apple butter for guests to take home made the wedding personal and unique.  A friend of Heidi and Jason gave them original art featuring Cedarwood’s historic house, barn and truck (we love it!) for wedding guests to autograph instead of a traditional guest book — a perfect, steal-worthy idea!  Just as original are the custom art-calligraphy chalkboard signs Cedarwood created for Heidi and Jason’s ceremony ‘program,’ seating chart and bar menus.  Kudos to Karen, our resident artist, who keeps raising the bar on Cedarwood‘s custom signs!

Other favorite details from this wedding include Heidi and Jason’s vintage cigar box ring bearer ‘pillow’ – almost as adorable as the little guy himself – and their trio of wedding cheesecakes!   There’s so much to enjoy about this beautiful southern soiree! What’s your favorite detail?
